Maryum Sayeed

2018 Trottier iREx Summer Intern and B.Sc. student, University of British Columbia

Maryum is in her third of year Combined Honours in Physics & Astronomy at the University of British Columbia. She will complete her internship at iREx during summer 2018 under the supervision of professor Jason Rowe.

For her project, Maryum analyzed Uranus data from the Kepler spacecraft to understand the behavior of extrasolar planets relative to the Solar System planets. Through analysis of photometric data, we can measure weather patterns, seismic waves intrinsic to Uranus and Sun’s activity from reflected light from Uranus. Her research interests lie in characterization and composition of extrasolar planets. She was very excited to be part of the iREx team this summer.
