2019 iREx Summer Intern and IISER Kolkata student

I am finishing my 3rd year as a physics undergraduate at IISER Kolkata, India. I received a MITACS Globalink Research Scholarship to work under Dr. Nicolas Cowan this summer. My project is on using Slepian functions as a basis for a hemisphere in fitting thermal maps of exoplanets obtained by eclipse mapping. Last summer, I worked on writing code to simulate radiative transfer processes under the
guidance of Dr. Bhargav Vaidya at IIT Indore.

My interest in exoplanets was born out of the desire to discover unexplored worlds and the possibility of finding other habitable planets. I am hopeful that this internship shall inspire me to pursue a career in
