Katherine Thibault

MSc Student, Université de Montréal

Katherine is a master’s student at the Université de Montréal under the supervision of David Lafrenière.

Her project consists of searching for giant planets around four white dwarf stars using the MIRI instrument on the James Webb Space Telescope. The goal is to test whether planets survive the cataclysm of stellar envelope ejection at the end of a star’s life using the emerging technique of Kernel Phase Interferometry (KPI).

Katherine was a physics major at the University of Montreal in the fall of 2021. She also has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, which she received in 2019 from the University of Sherbrooke.
