Vincent Savignac

Vincent completed his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Physics at McGill University in May 2023. His passion for exoplanet research took flight during his summer internship at iREx in 2022. It was there that he discovered an interest in studying the formation of atmospheres of super-Earths and mini-Neptunes. Under the guidance of Professor Eve Lee at McGill University, Vincent delves into exploring how these small planets with thin atmospheres fail to accumulate enough gas to become gas giants.

Satisfied with his experience and promising results, Vincent continues his work under the supervision of Professor Eve Lee, preparing a Bachelor’s thesis. Furthermore, he embarks on a second research project at iREx during the summer of 2023. In this project, Vincent focuses on an intriguing subpopulation of ultra-short-period small planets. He investigates the possibility that these planets, located in extremely close proximity to their star, may possess an atmosphere primarily composed of water vapor.

Since September 2023, Vincent has been pursuing his studies with Professor Eve Lee during his Master’s program at McGill. He now focuses on the Earth’s atmosphere during its early stages of formation.
