Déreck-Alexandre Lizotte

Ph.D. Student, Université de Montréal

Dereck started his PhD studies at Université de Montréal in January 2022, under co-supervision of David Lafrenière and Jason Rowe (Bishop’s University). His current research focus is centered around atmospheric characterization of exoplanets, namely preparing for incoming JWST observation results and how future observatories can compliment this data.

Dereck joined the iREx team in 2018, when he started his MSc studies at Bishop’s University, under the supervision of Jason Rowe. His MSc thesis, which he completed in early 2021, explored the detection viability of atmospheric refraction effects in the Kepler transit light curves, and if these effects could be used to study the dichotomy between certain planetary populations.
